Hell's Gate

Intricate designs found in garden gates, the iconic structures of cathedrals, and detailed textures and reflections found in black marble were incorporated in the design for Hell’s gate. As far as the design choices of the setting, I wanted Limbo to look and feel like a place of dark wonder and mystery, rather than just an isolated and gloomy default setting between Heaven and Hell. I wanted Limbo to be unique, and a place that one would not initially imagine it to be like. All of the components used for creating Hell’s gate and Limbo were also incorporated in the other environment paintings so that everything appears like it belongs in the same world. This is where the story begins and where the Sinner regains consciousness and makes his way to the Devil.
